Our journey began in 2017 when we developed a revolutionary composite spoke, designed to bring new strength, smoothness, and precision to bike wheels. We knew this product needed its own identity, so Gulo Composites was born, inspired by the fearless wolverine (genome: Gulo gulo)—an animal known for resilience, agility, and a relentless drive to take on the big challenges. Like the wolverine, we’re unafraid to take on ambitious projects, bringing fresh innovation to an industry we love.

Chad Davis

Brand Manager
Chad is driven by his genuine passion for cycling in all forms. His bond began in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains as a teenager and took him on a journey racing and riding all over North America.

With tenures at Enve Composites and Scott Sports, Chad has not just pursued a career but wholeheartedly embraced a way of life. Bikes are Chad’s companions on adventures and the catalysts for friendships. His story celebrates a blend of genuine love for the sport and purpose. Chad brings his passion to the Gulo team to elevate the rider’s cycling experience and share products from a company that he truly believes can boost the joy of any bike ride.

Lars Hallstrom

Engineer
Growing up mountain biking and cross-country skiing in Michigan, Lars’ career in cycling began when he joined the triathlon team and started working at a local bike shop while studying mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan. With a focus on sports-based product development and sensor-based testing, Lars has expertise in lab and field testing, composite manufacturing development, biomechanical analysis, and prototyping. Now, with his racing career focused on professional-level mountain bike and gravel events, Lars brought his expertise to Gulo Composites in 2022 to continue the development of carbon-spoked bicycle wheels.
